Smart has dedicated young adult program case managers and can provide the following services to assist you in making that step towards full employment.

Meet Our Young Adult Program Staff

betseyYoung Adult Program Supervisor Betsey Ray

Betsey has worked for the Smart Business Resource Center since September, 2010. Before working as a Young AdultProgram Supervisor, she worked for 5 years as a Program Advisor specializing in job coaching, case management, and special projects. Betsey with her previous experience in management knows what it takes to lead people, inspire change, and supervise projects. Betsey has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Chico. 
davidYoung Adult Workshop and GED Instructor David Saechao

David has worked with the Smart Business Resource Center since October, 2005. He works as an instructor for GED preparation, job searching techniques, job retention, basic life, work readiness skills, and post-secondary schooling. David has a Bachelor’s of History/Social Science Degree from California State University, Chico.
Shauna Shauna Brady

Shauna has worked for the Smart Center since February 2016. She has been serving in the education field for the last 6 years, specializing in financial aid. With her experience in financial aid, Shauna holds workshops assisting other students with their FAFSA and BOG fee waiver applications, as well as, assisting with any scholarship applications and financial aid questions. Shauna has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Humboldt State University.

    Intro to Microsoft Word and Excel

    Expand your knowledge of the MS Word program in this basic skills workshop. Get a better understanding of how to use this common word processor, including: understand the ribbon, creating and editing documents, formatting and printing documents, and more.

    Learn how to use Microsoft's electronic spreadsheet program in this beginning workshop.  We will go over basic terminology, the ribbon, spreadsheet tools, navigating the spreadsheet, selecting cells and ranges, basic formulas, and entering data to create a simple spreadsheet. 

    Designed for those who have basic computer skills, but little to no experience with the Microsoft Excel and Word.

    Learn tips for completing resumes. This workshop will provide an overview of the most effective resume. Learn how to convert documents from a resume program into different programs. The workshop will review tips and tricks to make your resume stand out to employers.

     

    Learn tips for completing online job applications. This workshop will provide an overview of

                Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and will provide tips for taking online employment tests. The

                workshop will review sample test questions. We will cover setting up a LinkedIn account and how

                to use this to market yourself and network with other professionals.
