The Shasta County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council (CAPCC) has multiple full-time AmeriCorps Family Support positions available with its NorthState Rural Assets Project serving in Shasta County.
AmeriCorps Parent Partner Positions Description Overview: This is a full-time service term position (40 hrs weekly) beginning October 4, 2017 and completing September 14, 2018. Service hours are typically Mon-Fri, 8pm to 5pm. An AmeriCorps Parent Partner serves at risk pregnant women, families with children and families with at risk youth. Parent Partners provide individual support, advocacy, and education. Families may be facing challenges such as child abuse and neglect, family violence, have current or past drug and alcohol abuse and/or mental illness. This position will help families learn how to seek out and receive appropriate community support services through case management. Training is provided.
Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a B.A./B.S. degree, or an A.A./A.S. degree with two years’ experience with case management in a health or social service field, or four years experience case management in a health or social service field. A very well qualified applicant will have both the educational and professional experience, along with some personal experience with the risk factors that Parent Partner clients are facing. Occasional evening and weekend work. Applicant must possess the ability to successfully operate e-mail and word processing software. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is desirable. Proof of reliable transportation and full coverage auto insurance are required. Mileage reimbursement is provided at the current IRS rate. Must be willing to complete National Sex Offenders Public Website (NSOPW), FBI & DOJ criminal background check.
Benefits: Living Allowance of $1,016.30, twice a month for first year AmeriCorps Parent Partners. Second, third and fourth year Parent Partners receive a living allowance of $1,053.26 twice a month. Upon completion of 1700 hour term commitment members receive an Education Award of $5775 (maximum 2 full time Ed Awards). Loan forbearance may be available for qualified student loans. AmeriCorps members may qualify for health insurance and child care benefits. AmeriCorps income typically does not affect Food Stamps or HUD benefits.
