The Smart Center in partnership with the Employment Development Department annually host job fairs to connect qualified job seekers with actively hiring employers. THESE JOB FAIRS IN SHASTA COUNTY ARE FREE TO ATTEND. However employer booths are limited so early registration is required. Tables, chairs and table linens are provided for businesses.

On October 10th, 2018, the Smart Business Resource Center in partnership with the Employment Development Department and Shasta College will host their annual Fall Job Fair. Participating employers will have at least two positions they are looking to fill. Job openings including hourly and/or salaried positions; part or full-time; seasonal or regular term employment. Event is open to all individuals (16+ years of age) looking for employment opportunities.

    • Update on new laws and requirements regarding bullying, gender identity, gender expression, and social media.

    This program will satisfy California training requirements for supervisors:
    • The types of conduct that constitute sexual harassment.
    • Remedies available for sexual harassment victims in civil actions and potential employer or individual liability.
    • Strategies to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
    • An explanation about the limited confidentiality of the complaint process.
    • Practical examples that illustrate sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
    • Resources for victims of harassment.
    • The employer’s obligation to conduct an effective workplace investigation of a harassment complaint and take remedial measures to correct the adverse behavior.
    • The supervisor’s obligation to report any complaints of sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation of which they are aware to a designated corporate representative (e.g. a human resource representative) so the matter may be resolved internally.
    • What the supervisor should do if he or she is personally accused of harassment.

    Sexual Harassment Prevention: Interactive Two-Hour Training (Two Sessions)

    Two sessions to choose from. Each session will
    cover:
    • Current examples and dilemmas.
    • Update on new laws and requirements regarding bullying, gender identity, gender expression, and social media.

    This program will satisfy California training requirements for supervisors:
    • The types of conduct that constitute sexual harassment.
    • Remedies available for sexual harassment victims in civil actions and potential employer or individual liability.
    • Strategies to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
    • An explanation about the limited confidentiality of the complaint process.
    • Practical examples that illustrate sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
    • Resources for victims of harassment.
    • The employer’s obligation to conduct an effective workplace investigation of a harassment complaint and take remedial measures to correct the adverse behavior.
    • The supervisor’s obligation to report any complaints of sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation of which they are aware to a designated corporate representative (e.g. a human resource representative) so the matter may be resolved internally.
    • What the supervisor should do if he or she is personally accused of harassment.
    • The essential elements of an anti-harassment policy and how to use it if a complaint is filed.
